Vauxhall to build on Corsa success

-

VAUXHALL’S steadfastly popular Corsa was the UK’s second bestselling car in June, with over 6,500 sold.

Corsa sales were also 2,000 units higher in the first half of 2019 than the previous year and that performance came hot on the heels of Vauxhall announcing its new fifth generation Corsa, which will feature a batteryelectric version in the range for the first time.

Available to reserve with a £500 deposit now, the fully-electric Corsa-e is promising a punch performance from its 136ps 50kWh battery, with acceleration from 0-62mph in just over eight seconds. Its official range is 205 miles.

Priced from £26,490, including the Government’s £3,500 Plug-in Car Grant, the Corsa-e will be available in two highly-specified trims, both of which will come as standard with a seven-inch touchscreen, 11kWh on-board charger, satnav, LED headlights, alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and DAB radio.

Also standard will be the peace of mind that comes with the Corsa-e’s battery warranty, which guarantees that at least 70 per cent of its capacity is maintained for 100,000 or eight years.

Full specifications and range pricing will be available when the Corsa-e receives its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, ahead of series production starting in January next year.

The current Corsa is available priced from £11,735 on-the-road for the three-door 1.4i Active. Five-door version start at £14,025.

It’s been a good year so far for the flagship Insignia, which was recently crowned Auto Express Family Car of the Year for the second year running. The Insignia was also rated most dependable vehicle in the midsize car segment at the J.D Power UK Customer Satisfaction Awards – for the fourth time in a row.

Priced from £19,945 on-the-road or £21,305 for the Sport Tourer, the Insignia is packed with state-of-theart equipment, including the company’s IntelliLink infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone connectivity. The car features a full five-star Europe NCAP crash safety score, owing in part to safety technology such as Lane Keep Assist and Automatic Emergency Braking.

In a double win for Vauxhall, the company’s Mokka X also achieved the award for the most dependable small SUV.

With a stylish and sporty design, the Mokka X is also packed with innovative technology. A spacious interior and sports seats ensure ultimate comfort, while optional four-wheel drive technology automatically optimises road grip, as well as offering some off-road capability.

Prices for the Mokka X start at £22,645 for the 1.4i Turbo Active or £24,325 for those who prefer diesel. For a 4x4 version, the prices starts at £27,145 for the 1.4i Turbo Elite.
