Fulham forward Cavaleiro sends out a stark warning to the rest of Championship

-

IVAN Cavaleiro has warned the rest of the Sky Bet Championship that Fulham are only going to get better.

Fulham have rattled off three wins since an opening-day defeat at Barnsley and many expect Scott Parker’s side to make an instant return to the Premier League.

Cavaleiro scored twice in the 4-0 midweek thrashing of Millwall and the Portuguese forward now has three goals since making his loan switch from Wolves.

“I hope we can continue doing this in games,” Cavaleiro told the official Fulham website ahead of Nottingham Forest’s visit on Saturday.

“Keeping possession, being aggressive, and with this attitude I think we can go far in the Championship.

“I’ve worked hard on the pitch to achieve this, and I hope I can contribute to the team like this in every game.”

Fulham trail early-season pacesetters Leeds and Swansea by a point.

Leeds travel to rock bottom Stoke, where the pressure is growing on boss Nathan Jones after three defeats in four games.

Fourth-placed Sheffield Wednesday head to Preston with caretakermanager Lee Bullen feeling the benefits of a settled side at Hillsborough.

“The lads that have been playing are making it relatively straightforward because they are playing well and getting results, so they deserve to keep the shirt,” Bullen told www.swfc. co.uk.

“We are in a good place.” Derby host West Brom determined to bounce back from the midweek home defeat to Bristol City.

The Rams have not won in the league since the opening weekend of the season and find themselves in the bottom half of the table.

“We are still not on the top of our game because some players need to fit in,” Derby manager Phillip Cocu told Rams TV.

“The pieces of the puzzle have to come together. We have an idea of how we want to play but it has to develop, and especially if you want to play by being dominant with the ball.

“The pieces have to fit together because against defensive teams it is not easy and the understanding has to be really good.”

Charlton meet Brentford in a London derby and Middlesbrough attempt to build on the first win of Jonathan Woodgate’s reign at home to Millwall,

Huddersfield, still under the caretaker charge of former Cardiff defender Mark Hudson, are at home to Reading with the Terriers still seeking their first victory of the season.

Elsewhere, Barnsley and Luton, who were promoted from League One last season, meet at Oakwell, Hull welcome Bristol City and QPR host Wigan.
