Redmond in ruthless call to Dragons

THE RACECOURSE 3pm WREXHAM v BARNET

DEVONTE Redmond is confident it is only a matter of time before Wrexham start to put teams to the sword, but has urged his Dragons’ team-mates to show a level of ruthlessness in their game.

Wrexham have enjoyed a mixed start to the new National League season, currently sitting in ninth place ahead of the August Bank Holiday weekend double header with a return of two wins, two draws and a loss to their record.

The Dragons entertain Barnet today before heading to Hartlepool United on Monday and will be looking to build on last Sunday’s battling 1-1 draw at Notts County.

Redmond opened his Dragons goal scoring account at Meadow Lane, firing home an effort – that was voted National League goal of the weekend by a fans poll on social media – to cancel out Kristian Dennis’ opener five minutes earlier.

After a busy start to the National League that saw five fixtures scheduled for the opening fortnight, Wrexham have enjoyed the chance to get back on the training field for a full week in the build-up to the Bank Holiday weekend.

And Redmond feels a week long break from playing will give the Dragons the chance to fine tune their play, and believes it is only a matter of time before Wrexham turn the screw on opponents.

“It has been a hectic start,” said Redmond. “We’ve had the long travel of last week, a couple of tough away games, and now we can have a little bit of rest and a look back at how we’ve started before going into the next stage of the start.

“(We must) look to go on now and start to put teams away because we are creating chances in games and we need to be a little bit more ruthless and I am sure we will be up there.”
