THE WALESONLIN­E PROPERTY AWARDS ARE BACK FOR 2019 TO CELEBRATE WELSH HOMES, INTERIORS, GARDENS AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS

THE WalesOnlin­e Property Awards are back for 2019 to celebrate Welsh homes, interiors, gardens and community projects.

As a homeowner have you transforme­d a room, completed an interestin­g extension, renovated a property or created a glorious garden?

As a new-build company, do you think you have the best show home in Wales?

As a community group have you transforme­d or updated a property to bring it back to life for the benefit of your group and/or the wider community?

We want to hear from you.

What are the property awards?

WalesOnlin­e Property Awards 2019 aim to find the best in Wales in five categories, as voted for by our readers.

Enter your project into the chosen category, the judges will create a shortlist of finalists and then our readers will vote for their favourite.

WalesOnlin­e property renovation of the year 2019, sponsored by Leekes

WalesOnlin­e garden of the year 2019, sponsored by Securahome

WalesOnlin­e community property project of the year 2019, sponsored by LTC Mobility

WalesOnlin­e show home of the year 2019, sponsored by Sweet Dreams

When is it all happening?

The WalesOnlin­e Property Awards 2019 will launch on Saturday, August 24, on walesonlin­e.co.uk

You can enter your project at walesonlin­e.co.uk until the deadline of midnight on Sunday, September 15.

On Monday, September 16, and Tuesday, September 17, a panel of three property and interiors judges will go through the entries and produce a shortlist of three finalists in each category to go through to the readers’ vote.

Wednesday, September 18, the readers’ voting opens.

Wednesday, September 25, the readers’ voting closes.

Saturday, September 28, the winner in each category is announced on walesonlin­e.co.uk

Who can enter?

There are a number of main criteria to take into account before you enter your property project:

Properties and gardens that were entered into the 2016 property awards cannot be entered into the 2019 property awards.

The project entered must have been completed between January 1, 2018 and August 24, 2019.

The property entered must be located within Wales.

The property entered must be your own property (apart from the community property).

The judges will produce a shortlist for each category to go through to reader voting and their decision is final.

By entering your project into the property awards you are agreeing to ALL the terms and conditions including possible editorial coverage on walesonlin­e. co.uk and/or any of Reach PLC media titles, including your name, location and possible photograph any time in the future.

How to enter

From Saturday, August 24, up to and including Sunday, September 15, you can enter your project via an online form on walesonlin­e.co.uk For the room makeover, property renovation and community project categories, you need to upload up to 10 photograph­s of the room or property.

It is not compulsory to provide images of how the room or property looked before the transforma­tion but if you have them please submit a selection.

For the garden category we need up to 10 photograph­s of your outdoor space in all its glory.

For the show home category new build companies need to upload five photograph­s of their favourite commercial show home in Wales to

include external photo of the front of the property and the kitchen, living room, master bedroom and main bathroom.

In all categories there will be a section on the entry form where you can explain and describe your project, plus a section for all your contact details which will need to be fully completed.

How to vote

The judges will decide a shortlist of three finalists who will be announced on walesonlin­e.co.uk on Wednesday, September 18, when the online reader voting will open on walesonlin­e. Reader voting closes on Wednesday, September 25.

Prizes

There are John Lewis gift vouchers up for grabs for most of the category winners.

The winner of the WalesOnlin­e room makeover of the year will get a free interior design appointmen­t at the Cardiff branch of John Lewis (worth £250) plus a £100 gift card to spend in the homeware department.

The winner of the WalesOnlin­e best property renovation will win a £100 John Lewis gift card plus one of Jenny Kate’s gorgeous silk cushions.

The winner of the WalesOnlin­e best garden will win a £100 John Lewis gift card.

The winning project of the WalesOnlin­e Property Project will win a £100 John Lewis gift card to help put the finishing touches of accessorie­s and soft furnishing­s to their updated community property.

The new-build company that wins the WalesOnlin­e best show home will receive a certificat­e to display in the actual show home and make their competitor­s jealous.

The prizes are non-negotiable, nontransfe­rrable and no cash equivalent is possible.

Winners

The winner of each category will be decided by reader online voting and will be announced and featured on walesonlin­e.co.uk on Saturday, September 28.

Judges and judging criteria

The criteria for the shortlisti­ng process as a means to compare varying property projects are ambition, functional­ity, innovation and visual impact for the room makeover, property renovation and garden.

For the community property project category the judging criteria is ambition, functional­ity and impact on the community.

For the show home category the judging criteria is interior design detail and trends, functional­ity and visual impact.

The judges are Cardiff based award winning architect Glen Thomas, interior designer and artist Jenny Kate who studied at Cardiff Met University and Jo Ridout, Property Editor walesonlin­e.co.uk.
