Silva shines as City regain winning ways

DAVID Silva marked his 400th Manchester City appearance with two assists and Sergio Aguero scored twice as the Premier League champions returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Bournemout­h.

Silva laid on goals either side of half-time for Raheem Sterling and Aguero.

Aguero opened the scoring inside 15 minutes at the Vitality Stadium before rounding off proceeding­s after Sterling had claimed his sixth goal of the season.

Harry Wilson briefly gave the hosts hope by reducing the deficit to 2-1 with a stunning 25-yard freekick in first-half stoppage time.

Manchester United suffered more spot-kick misery as Crystal Palace stunned them with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

Patrick Van Aanholt secured Palace’s first Premier League victory over United, beating David de Gea at his near post in the third minute of stoppage time.

The former Swans were in the action as Jordan Ayew had earlier fired Palace ahead, but Wales winger Daniel James looked to have rescued a point for United two minutes from time with his second goal for the club.

United were below par throughout and missed a penalty for the second successive match 20 minutes from time.

Following Paul Pogba’s miss at Wolves on Monday, Marcus Rashford took over the spot-kick duties after Scott McTominay was tripped in the box by Luka Milivojevi­c but the England striker’s effort bounced off the post to safety.

Mohamed Salah scored twice as Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-1.

Joel Matip headed Liverpool in front before the break from a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner.

Liverpool doubled their lead four minutes after the restart when David Luiz grabbed Salah’s shirt following a delicious touch from Roberto Firmino. Salah swept home from the penalty spot and secured Liverpool’s third straight victory after 58 minutes.

The Egyptian left Luiz trailing in his wake before bursting into the area and finishing unerringly.

Arsenal substitute Lucas Torreira struck a consolatio­n five minutes from time.

Raul Jimenez scored a stoppageti­me penalty as Wolves salvaged a 1-1 draw against Burnley.

Ashley Barnes netted his fourth goal in three games to put the Clarets ahead but Wolves equalised after Erik Pieters tripped Jimenez in the area.

Newcastle stunned Tottenham to hand manager Steve Bruce a first win in charge with a 1-0 victory. Joelinton’s first goal for the club earned a memorable three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tammy Abraham hit his first Premier League goals as Chelsea edged a thrilling encounter at Norwich to give manager Frank Lampard his first win.

Abraham started and finished the scoring as the visitors secured a 3-2 victory at Carrow Road.

Todd Cantwell and Teemu Pukki twice equalised for the hosts during a breathless 45 minutes after Mason Mount had restored Chelsea’s advantage.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy returned to his home city to haunt Sheffield United in a 2-1 victory for the Foxes.

Vardy, a Sheffield Wednesday fan, fired Leicester into a 38thminute lead before substitute Oli McBurnie equalised with his first Premier League goal.

But Leicester secured their first win of the season when substitute Harvey Barnes smashed home a half-volley 20 minutes from time.

Sebastien Haller scored twice as West Ham won 3-1 at Watford.

Skipper Mark Noble gave the Hammers a third-minute lead from the penalty spot.

Gerard Deulofeu struck the woodwork before setting up Andre Gray for a fine 17th-minute finish.

But Haller proved the Hammers’ hero with goals after 64 and 73 minutes.

Southampto­n beat Brighton 2-0 in an eventful South Coast affair at the Amex Stadium. Brighton had Florin Andone sent off for a tackle on Saints full-back Yan Valery and then had a Lewis Dunk effort chalked off by VAR. Moussa Djenepo put Saints ahead and Nathan Redmond settled matters.
