Exiles’ Inniss charged with violent conduct

-

NEWPORT County defender Ryan Inniss faces a lengthy ban after he was officially charged with violent conduct over an alleged bite on a West Ham youngster.

Manager Michael Flynn was sweating on the outcome of a referee’s report after the on-loan Crystal Palace centre-back allegedly bit 18-year-old Irons academy ace Reece Hannam on Wednesday night.

At the time of the incident, during injury time of their 5-4 EFL Trophy defeat, Hannam claimed he had been the victim of a Luis Suarez-style bite.

And now Inniss must brace himself for a sentence similar to the 10-week ban the former Liverpool striker received in 2013 after being formally charged by the FA. He has until 6pm on Tuesday, September 10, to appeal the decision.

Newport boss Flynn did not believe West Ham were pushing the FA to take further action, but English football’s governing body stepped in to sanction the 24-yearold.

An FA statement read: “Ryan Inniss has been charged with being in breach of FA Rule E3(1) following a dismissal during the EFL Trophy match between Newport County and West Ham Utd U21s on Wednesday

“It is alleged that his behaviour in or around the 90th minute constitutes violent conduct, in circumstances where the standard punishment that would otherwise apply is clearly insufficient. “

If Flynn didn’t have enough to worry about ahead of today’s League Two home clash with Port Vale, another one of his players went off on international duty without telling him.

Outcast forward Keanu MarshBrown, who refused to go on loan during the transfer window, jetted off to meet up with the Guyana national team, but forgot to mention it too his boss.

And Flynn says he will never play for the club again after going AWOL.

“Keanu went away on international duty without telling me,” he added. “He was given a letter to give to me but he didn’t give it to me.

“He didn’t want to go out on loan, so I’m not even considering him. He’s right in the back of my mind.

“I haven’t got a clue where he’s gone, I still haven’t got a letter.

“We’ll try and get him out when he comes back, I’m really disappointed, I’m not wasting my time on him.”
