Best foot forward for the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k

The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k returns to the city this weekend.

4,500 runners are expected to take on the picturesqu­e course along Swansea Bay on Sunday.

In addition to the main race, there will be a 10k wheelchair race, a 100m mascot race and multiple races for children.

Here’s everything you need to know about the event.

What time does it start?

There are several start times on the day:

9.15am - 1k for aged seven and under starts from Sketty Lane car park

9.30am - 1k for aged eight to 11 starts from Sketty Lane car park

10am - 3k for aged nine to 14 starts from the Mumbles side of Blackpill Lido

10.50am - 10k wheelchair race starts from St Helen’s rugby ground

11am - 10 starts from St Helen’s rugby ground

11.10am - 100m mascot race starts from St Helen’s rugby ground

What’s the route like?

Runners will begin at St Helen’s rugby ground and head towards Mumbles before returning towards the city centre along the promenade.

They will cross the finish line at the cenotaph.

Where can I park?

There will be free parking available in the recreation ground and lacrosse field but drivers are advised to arrive no later than 10am.

Car parking will also be available at the Civic Centre west car park and the Guildhall circle and surroundin­g areas.

Will there be road closures?

A number of road closures will be in place throughout the day.

Between 10-11.30am: Mumbles Road will be closed in both directions from the traffic lights at Guildhall Road South to Sketty Lane.

Between 10.30am-noon: The westbound carriagewa­y between Sketty Lane and Mayals Road will be closed and the westbound carriagewa­y between Fairwood Road and Newton Road will be closed.

Mumbles Road will be closed in both directions between Mayals Road and Fairwood Road, and also between Newton Road and Dunns Lane.

When are the results available?

Provisiona­l results will be available on the event website a few hours after the last runner crosses the finish line.

The final results will then be available approximat­ely seven days after the event.

If you have provided a mobile number you will also receive a text with your result following the race.
