Corrie’s Gemma to give birth on cable car

-

CORONATION Street’s Gemma Winter will give birth to quads on a cable car in Llandudno next week.

Cast and crews from the ITV soap were spotted filming in the area earlier this year after taking over the Great Orme for three days to shoot the dramatic scenes.

Despite remaining tight-lipped over the storyline, producers yesterday revealed Gemma, played by Dolly-Rose Campbell, will give birth to the quads in north Wales.

Desperate to get away from the cobbles following media attention ahead of the birth, Gemma and ex-boyfriend Chesney head to Llandudno for the day.

Taking a cable car ride 80ft over the headland, Gemma goes into labour – moments after receiving a proposal from Chesney, played by Sam Aston.

Having pulled the emergency brake, the cable car begins to swing in the breeze, while Gemma is left to give birth in the air with nobody else but Chesney.

It has not been revealed whether all four babies will be born at the iconic seaside attraction but viewers have been told the quads will all survive.

Later, on solid ground, Gemma eases herself out of her hospital bed to visit her newborn babies. But fear sets in when she is told she is being discharged – although the babies must remain in hospital.

The scenes, which are understood to be airing early next week, were filmed over three days in August.

Locals who visited the set reported seeing the characters holding a small doll on the cable car, while others reported seeing Chesney getting down on one knee.

Coronation Street is aired Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
