Direct flights wing way from Cardiff to Glasgow

-

A YEAR-ROUND schedule of flights between Cardiff and Glasgow took off last week.

The launch marks the start of Loganair’s year-round schedule, the last flight between the two cities was October 2019.

There is currently no direct rail service between Scotland’s biggest city and Cardiff, and car journey times can take upwards of seven hours.

The route, operated by Loganair’s 49-seat Embraer 145 jet aircraft, has a flight time of 1 hour and 15 minutes, and operates up to eight times a week.

The operator hoped the launch will be welcome news for Pro14 rugby fans, who will be able to follow their club to Scotland for matches against Glasgow Warriors.

Across all its routes, Loganair provides 15kg of complimentary baggage allowance, in-flight refreshments and the option to join Clan Loganair – the airline’s competitive reward programme for frequent flyers. Business customers can also choose from a range of fare products for the flexibility they need.

Kay Ryan, Loganair’s chief commercial officer, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming passengers on board our aircraft at Cardiff Airport.

“This is an important business route to Glasgow and Scotland’s biggest city is a great destination for shopping and nightlife.”

Spencer Birns, chief commercial officer at Cardiff Airport added: “It is fantastic to welcome Loganair’s scheduled services to Cardiff, and we are really pleased that they have taken this opportunity to bolster links between Wales and Scotland.”
