Expect a Yeovil backlash – Keates

-

DEAN Keates has warned his side to expect a reaction from Yeovil Town today as the Dragons head to Huish Park for the first ever league encounter.

The two former Football League outfits head into the encounter in Somerset at opposite ends of the standings, yet in vastly different runs of form.

Yeovil sit in fifth place, yet are in a six-match winless run in the league, while they also exited the FA Trophy during that spell. Since their last win in the league, a 2-0 victory at Torquay on New Year’s Day, the Glovers have picked up just three points – from draws with Solihull, Hartlepool and Chorley – while they have lost to Woking, Harrogate and most recently at Boreham Wood on Saturday.

By contrast Wrexham, who sit just two points above the drop zone but in 17th place, head to Huish Park with three wins, a draw and one defeat in their last five league games, and are high on confidence following last week’s 2-0 win at Bromley.

Keates expects his side to build on the win at Hayes Lane, but has warned his side will face a tough encounter in Somerset.

“It will be another difficult game,” said the Dragons boss.

“I thought we deserved all three points against Bromley and we go into another game at the weekend against Yeovil and it’s going to be a difficult game.

They are up there challenging. They will probably be disappointed they didn’t get anything against Boreham Wood.

“The goal they conceded there was definitely a foul on one of their players.

“I’m expecting a difficult game. They will be looking for a reaction, they are at home and they will want to be in the shake-up at the end of the season.

“They have some good pros, they’re a decent team and they are well organised. It will be a difficult game, but they are week in and week out at this level.

“I don’t believe we didn’t deserve anything against Chesterfield (the only loss in the last five games) so the reaction was there over two weeks.

“The lads got their frustrations out in training and we went down to Bromley and got the performance.

“We acquitted ourselves well and we’ll go down to Yeovil and do the same thing.

“I expect the players to be full of confidence and the mentality when we cross that white line on Saturday at 3pm has to be there.

“We must go and play there with the structure and belief we have done in previous games.”
