AN auction touted as the greatest ever seen in Wales will be held this weekend.

Welsh music stars Dame Shirley Bassey, Katherine Jenkins and Grant Nicholas are the latest big names to donate to the auction in aid of flood victims in the South Wales Valleys.

The Welsh performers have all pledged their support to the Valley Aid flood fundraisin­g shows this Saturday.

The weekend Valley Aid takes place over three nights at The Pop Factory in Porth. On the Saturday evening Welsh stars James Dean Bradfield, Charlotte Church, Amy Wadge, Mike Peters and Andy Fairweathe­r Low will perform to raise money for flood-hit communitie­s.

As part of the evening an auction will be held online featuring an array of incredible items up for grab, including:

■ A set of four tickets to one of Sir Tom Jones’ summer shows of the winner’s choice, a meet and greet with the Welsh icon, and tour merchandis­e;

■ The guitar which James Dean Bradfield will use during his Valley Aid set with body artwork by Manics bandmate Nicky Wire;

■ A limited-edition framed lyric sheet of A New South Wales by The Alarm’s Mike Peters;

■ A signed guitar from Phil Campbell of Motorhead;

■ Geraint Thomas’ signed cycling shoes;

■ A guitar signed by Queen’s Brian May;

■ A shirt signed by the Wales rugby team;

■ A package of items donated by Led Zeppelin star Robert Plant – including a meet and greet with the rock legend;

■ Two top price tickets with meet and greet to see Katherine Jenkins on her 2021 Cinema Paradiso Tour;

■ A rare Gretsch guitar from Feeder’s Grant Nicholas;

■ Two jackets that have been worn, and which will be signed by, Dame Shirley Bassey

Meanwhile, the Sterephoni­cs will hold a bucket collection at both of their shows at the Cardiff Motorpoint this weekend.

The collection will be added to the cash raised from the Valley Aid shows.
