2,000 applications for 30 Zip World jobs

-

ZIP WORLD received 2,000 applications for 30 jobs as it gears up to open its first south Wales site this summer.

Plans for The Tower site on the Rhigos Mountain in Rhondda Cynon Taf were approved last year and include three zip wire courses, parking facilities and a reception area.

Building works on phase one of the site are under way and bosses are hoping to open the site in early July.

This week, they revealed the huge response they had received after recently advertising for jobs at the site. Commercial director Andrew Hudson said they had a total of 2,000 applications for the roles, mainly from the local area.

He added: “It was a huge response, this was for 30 jobs at the new site.”

Zip World president and cofounder Sean Taylor is excited about spreading the brand outside of north Wales.

He said: “For me then it makes us a Welsh company – not only a north Wales company, although Llanrwst will always be our HQ and we will never take our eye off the ball up in the north.

“This will be a four-line zip wire course, similar to what we have in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

“This is phase one of the development and phase two is the big one with lots of new activities.

“I would like these to be in within 18 months. This will include completely new products, that is what is in our DNA.”

Zip World has grown rapidly since launching its first super-fast zip line at Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda at 2013 and now has about a dozen attractions at three sites in north Wales.
