Owners say top restaurant ‘has outgrown its current premises’

AN AWARD-WINNING seafood restaurant will be closing down next month.

Pysgoty, in Aberystwyt­h, will close its doors after five years in the town’s harbour.

The restaurant, which was built in a former public toilets, was previously one of 12 eateries in the UK battling it out to be named the 2018 Seafood Restaurant of the Year.

It was renowned for its quaint and cosy interior as well as its fish and seafood dishes being locally sourced from fishermen in Cardigan Bay.

Pysgoty is run by husband and wife Craig and Rhiannon Edwards, a qualified fishmonger and qualified chef respective­ly.

The couple also run a fishmonger­s in the town called Jonah’s Fish Market.

The third member of Pysgoty’s team is gifted chef Pawel Banaszynsk­i.

But now the owners have announced that it will be closing on Saturday, April 19, as they have “outgrown” the current premises.

In a statement shared on the restaurant’s social media on behalf of Rhiannon, Craig and Pawel, the trio thanked their “loyal customers”.

It said: “Regretfull­y, Pysgoty is taking a break.

“After five wonderful years at our home on Aberystwyt­h harbour, we will be closing our doors on Saturday, April 19.

“It has not been an easy decision to make but we have outgrown our current premises.

“We wish to thank our amazing staff, past and present for their dedication in helping us making Pysgoty a fantastic place to eat.

“We would like to thank all our suppliers, especially to the hardworkin­g local fishermen that have supplied us with the best quality seafood Cardigan Bay has to offer.

“We will continue to offer fresh fish to customers at our fishmonger­s, Jonah’s Fish Market on Cambrian Place in Aberystwyt­h.

“Lastly, we wish to thank all our loyal customers for supporting us and we hope to see you one last time.

“When one door closes, another opens. Stay tuned for what’s next!”
