How much council tax will you be paying?

AS WE come to the end of the financial year, all councils in Wales have announced how much residents will be paying in council tax.

There have been rises across the board, with all 22 local authoritie­s in Wales announcing a council tax increase.

The funding generated will go towards public services at a time when councils are looking at tightening their belts.

The local authoritie­s with the highest increase in council tax were Newport and Wrexham with a 6.95% increase, while the lowest increase was made by Rhondda Cynon Taf at 2.85%.

The residents paying the highest council tax in Wales live in Blaenau Gwent, with a Band D property paying around £1,712 a year.

Residents in Pembrokesh­ire pay the lowest amount of tax, with a Band D property paying around £1,147 a year.

The changes will come into effect at the start of the financial year in April.

Here’s how much you’ll be paying in the area you live:

ANGLESEY

The council agreed to increase council tax by 4.5% at its meeting on March 10. This equates to £1,304.73 for a Band D property.

BLAENAU GWENT

An increase of 3.9% was agreed at the local authority’s meeting on February 6. This equates to £1,711.86 for a Band D property.

BRIDGEND

Agreed to a council tax increase of 4.5% at its meeting on February 26. This equates to £1,537.06 for a Band D property.

CAERPHILLY

Agreed to a 4.7% increase at its meeting on February 27. This equates to £1,184.38 for a Band D property.

CARDIFF

An increase of 4.5% was agreed at the council’s meeting on February 27. This equates to £1,265.57 for a Band D property.

CARMARTHEN­SHIRE

Agreed to a council tax increase of 4.89% at its meeting on March 5. This equates to £1,316.55 for a Band D property.

CEREDIGION

The local authority agreed to a council tax increase of 4% at its meeting on March 5. This equates to £12,364.82 for a Band D property.

CONWY

An increase of 4.95% was agreed by the council at its meeting on March 5. This equates to £1,343.86 for a Band D property.

DENBIGHSHI­RE

Agreed to a council tax increase of 4.3% at its meeting on January 28. This equates to £1,384.16 for a Band D property.

FLINTSHIRE

The council agreed to an increase of 4.75% at its meeting on February 18. This equates to £1,342 for a Band D property.

GWYNEDD

An increase of 3.9% was agreed by the local authority at its meeting on March 5. This equates to £1,430.31 for a Band D property.

MERTHYR TYDFIL

Agreed to council tax increase of 4.99 at its meeting on March 4. This equates to £1,669.71 for a Band D property.

MONMOUTHSH­IRE

The local authority agreed to a council tax increase of 5.95% at its meeting on March 5.

This equates to £1,316 for a Band D property.

NEATH PORT TALBOT

An increase of 3.79% was agreed by the council at its meeting on March 5. This equates to £1,615.59 for a Band D property.

NEWPORT

Agreed to a council tax increase of 6.95% at its meeting on February 27. This equates to £1,197.88 for a Band D property.

PEMBROKESH­IRE

The council agreed to an increase of 5% at its meeting on February 27. This equates to £1,146.69 for a Band D property.

POWYS

An increase of 4.8% was agreed by the council at its meeting on February 28. This equates to £1,365 for a Band D property.

RHONDDA CYNON TAF

Agreed to increase council tax by 2.85% at the meeting on March 4. This equates to £1,498.44 for a Band D property.

SWANSEA

The local authority agreed to a council tax rise of 4.58% at its meeting on March 5. This equates to £1,406.33 for a Band D property.

TORFAEN

An increase of 3.95% has been agreed by the council at its meeting on March 3. This equates to £1,367.45 for a Band D property.

VALE OF GLAMORGAN

Agreed to increase council tax by 4.9% at its meeting on February 26. This equates to £1,306.08 for a Band D property.

WREXHAM

The council agreed to an increase of 6.95% at its meeting on February 26. This equates to £1,231.02 for a Band D property.
