AMARRIED police officer has been remanded in custody accused of killing his longterm lover.

Tim Brehmer, 41, appeared before Poole Magistrates’ Court accused of murdering Claire Parry, 41, who died in hospital on May 10.

Dorset Police were called to the car park of the Horns Inn in Christchurch Road, West Parley, on Saturday afternoon after the ambulance service reported two people needed medical assistance.

Mrs Parry, from Bournemouth, was taken to Royal Bournemouth

Hospital for treatment but died the following day.

A post-mortem examination concluded the cause of death was a brain injury caused by compression of the neck.

Brehmer was arrested at the scene of the incident and taken to Poole Hospital for treatment to a selfinflicted knife injury to his arm, which required surgery, before he was discharged into custody.

The defendant, who served with

Dorset Police but was on secondment to the National Police Air Service, spoke only to confirm his name, address, date of birth and his British nationality.

Brehmer appeared by videolink from a police station in Weymouth. The court heard he and Mrs Parry had been in an extra-marital affair for about 10 years.

Ian Wilson, representing Brehmer, said his client did not have the right to apply for bail in the magistrates’ court, having been charged with murder.

District Judge Stephen Nichols remanded the defendant, of Woodcock Lane, Hordle, Hampshire, into custody and ordered him to appear before Winchester Crown Court today.

“The court needs to formally send you to Winchester Crown Court on May 13 and until then you are remanded into custody,” the judge said.

Dorset Police said the defendant was not on duty at the time of the incident but due to his occupation and the seriousness of the charge, a referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
