Western Mail

Push off to England for ‘common sense’

- Eifion Collins Cenarth

WHY do you place Mr Christley’s little pearls of wisdom at the end of the Western Mail letters? After all the comments it is his opinion which has “the last word”.

“They’re not believers,” says Mr Christley of Abergele !

This fount of all knowledge has come to the conclusion that our leaders have no “common sense”. What is he referring to?

He has left out Mr Johnson of England and Ms Foster of Northern Ireland. Presumably they do have “common sense”?

Mr Christley has spent years writing to your newspaper with his comments, most of which have been quite offensive to our way of life here in Wales.

Is he now suggesting that as Scotland and Wales (and Northern Ireland) did not follow the direction of his “Great Leader” in London the ministers have no common sense?

On the contrary, I think they have both used “common sense” lately in their responses to current events.

Were they consulted about these plans?

Did they come to a common agreement?

Perhaps his comments reflect apolitical thinking on his part?

Perhaps, after expressing many comments in your newspaper about how awful things are here in Wales, he ought to join Mr Davies of Blandford Forum, in the place where everything is wonderful?

Maybe that would be the “sensible” thing to do.

But not yet!

He is not allowed to travel far in Wales... but he would be all right if he travelled at night and made the border undetected.

Then he would be “free and safe “... and governed by people with “common sense”, which we do not have here in Wales, of course.
