Creative ways you can remember a loved one

THERE ARE ALL SORTS OF SPECIAL WAYS TO CELEBRATE SOMEONE’S LIFE

-

A celebration of the life of someone who has passed away should be as unique as they were. And just because the way we say goodbye has had to change, it doesn’t mean we can’t all remember a lost loved one in our own significant way. Co-op Funeralcare has some great ideas for ways to pay a fitting tribute to a family member or close friend who is no longer with us. One simple way is to create an online memorial and tribute. You could post a copy of your personalised eulogy or condolence message. Or you could get everyone to upload a photo of your loved one, or an image of themselves wearing your beloved relative’s favourite colour, on the same day. Ask everyone to wear that favoured bright shade to the online funeral service, or give the ceremony a theme based on something meaningful and ask people to interpret it in their own separate ways. Perhaps ask people to light a candle at the same time on the same day, then play your loved one’s favourite song, so that everyone shares in the same special experience. You could also personalise the order of service by using unusual colours or a unique design logo. Include a section where others can add their own personal notes or photos. You could even create a virtual memory board, where people can add their own special memories or bulbs to plant in their garden to remember your loved one, or ask them to donate to a charity that meant something to the person who has passed away. Social distancing doesn’t mean we can’t all think a little differently to come up with an original way to say goodbye to someone who, after all, was a total one-off themselves.
