Child, 6, sexually assaulted at park

POLICE are investigating after a six-year-old child was the victim of an alleged sexual assault at a Welsh country park.

The incident happened over the weekend at Pembrey Country Park in Carmarthenshire.

Police received a report on Saturday afternoon and immediately sent officers to the park, who searched the area.

One nearby resident said police were stopping cars coming out of the car park and asking members of the public if they had seen a man, while the next day officers were patrolling the nearby beach.

Police said the suspect, who was unknown to the child, was described as a white male with a tan, who was around 6ft tall and in his forties or fifties.

He had short and messy grey hair, and was thought to have been wearing a blue T-shirt and a hat while carrying a black rucksack.

A spokeswoman for DyfedPowys Police said: “We are investigating an allegation of sexual assault by touching on a child aged six years old, which occurred on Saturday afternoon at Pembrey Country Park.”
