Not all of us choose to be ruled by fear
REGARDING the mandatory wearing of masks, several past studies have demonstrated the health risks they pose, particularly to people with breathing difficulties. This is due to the decrease in oxygen and the increase of carbon monoxide.
Many people, such as smokers or those with asthma for example, will have their health compromised by wearing one.
People who are hard of hearing will struggle without access to lip reading and there is harm caused to normal human interaction when we are not able to see a smile.
If a person isn’t coughing or sneezing then the chance of passing on any virus is miniscule.
By all means wear one if it’s your personal choice but it should not be compulsory. Not all of us choose to live ruled by fear and many of us know that the risks posed by coronavirus are very small indeed. Nikky Govier Aberystwyth
