LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to join the race for Wales ace David Brooks, according to reports. Brooks, 23, has become one of the most wanted men in football this summer following Bournemouth’s relegation from the Premier League.

Leicester, Crystal Palace and West Ham are among the clubs keen to land the current Wales Player of the Year.

And according to The Sun, Liverpool are also considering a shock £35 million swoop.

Klopp has released England man Adam Lallana, with Xherdan Shaqiri also supposedly told he is surplus to requirements.

That frees up a space in the squad for Brooks, who fills a similar role to those two but is much younger and with more to prove.

Brooks’ 2019-20 season was wrecked by an ankle injury, but he returned when the Premier League resumed and is attracting suitors across the country.

Brooks was outstanding for Bournemouth in his first season after joining in a £12m deal from Sheffield United, scoring eight goals before injury hit last summer.

But he proved his fitness by helping Bournemouth take their relegation battle to the wire since the restart and seems almost certain to be sold to a Premier League club in the coming weeks. Brooks has also been a shining light for Ryan Giggs’ Wales. His impressive form at international level is doubtless one of the considerations for Klopp.

Brooks is one of a glut of players in Giggs’ team whose immediate futures have to be decided. Gareth Bale is the headline act, but the likes of Kieffer Moore, Harry Wilson, Joe Rodon and Chris Gunter are among others who could be moving during the transfer window.
