Far worse going on to distract drivers

-

OVER the years Bridgend County Borough Council never ceases to amaze, in a negative way I might add, but the latest directive to come from the hallowed offices in Angel Street takes the biscuit.

The directive being that a sign painted by a resident on the side of the house could cause distraction to road users, and legal action could be taken if it is not removed. “Distract motorists”! This comment is laughable on this highway, if it was not so serious and really takes the biscuit.

I would ask the question of the people who composed this threatening correspondence have you ever travelled on this road?

Yes, there are many distractions, the main one as a car driver is will my motor vehicle survive its journey past the outlined property and get to Caerau or is serious damage about to ensue?

As the road covering for nearly two miles is treacherous in the extreme with potholes, slipshod repairs and as poor a road surface it is possible to encounter, added to this the noise produced must be overbearing to residents whose houses are only separated by a narrow pavement from this road, all in all an unadulterated disgrace.

The impression it must give to any person visiting this area for the first time would be negative in the extreme.

As usual priorities seem to take the back seat (no pun intended) with our esteemed council leaders.

It is important to add that this sign and the political beliefs of the people who painted it are about as far removed as it is possible to be with my own political stance, though in a democracy they have every right to espouse their thoughts on the future of Wales and I personally would defend their rationale to express these views.
