CelebrateCareHomes seeks your support
RE: #CelebrateCareHomes – raising awareness of the heroic efforts of care homes during Covid-19.
I am writing to you to draw your attention to the incredible efforts of team members, residents and family members at Sunrise of Cardiff and to invite you to support our #CelebrateCareHomes campaign.
At Sunrise of Cardiff, our home has shown immense bravery, professionalism, and humanity over the last few months.
Our team members have gone above and beyond, including giving up their own time to provide hair and nail services to our residents so that they have continued to look and feel their best.
We have also helped residents to stay connected with their relatives, by using iPads and organising Zoom and FaceTime calls.
Family members of our residents agree that our care home has provided them with the comfort and reassurance they needed to ease their anxieties during this difficult period.
Martyn Lewis, a relative of one of our residents, told us: “Throughout this time, which has been unsettling for all sections of society, I have been most grateful for the exceptional standard of care provided and for the dedication and efficiency of the staff, many of whom, if not all, must be worried about their own safety and of the effect of the virus on their families.”
To raise awareness of this heroism, we have launched a #CelebrateCareHomes campaign, which hopes to reaffirm the importance and value of care homes as we begin to emerge from this crisis.
At their core, care homes provide a unique environment for older people to foster relationships, learn new skills and enjoy their later years.
Bob Skinner, a 93-year-old resident at Sunrise of Cardiff, and one of the spokesmen for the #CelebrateCareHomes campaign, said: “The darkest days may be coming to an end; care homes are preparing to meet the new challenges ahead. This campaign is not only a recognition of the way care homes and staff stood up to the horrendous problems created by the coronavirus pandemic, but a way to confirm the confidence and trust of the public.”
We invite you to support the campaign, using your voice and platform to ensure care homes and the social care sector receive the recognition and praise they deserve.
Ways you can get involved with the campaign include sharing the #CelebrateCareHomes hashtag on social media and urging others to champion the invaluable work of care homes.
