A free virtual food festival is coming to Wales

AMGUEDDFA CYMRU’S ANNUAL FOOD FESTIVAL IS GOING DIGITAL

IN RESPONSE to Covid-19 restrictio­ns, Amgueddfa Cymru’s annual food festival will be a little different this year.

Instead of St Fagans Food Festival, which usually attracts 25,000 visitors over the weekend, Amgueddfa Cymru has developed a delicious menu of digital entertainm­ent for everyone to devour throughout the weekend.

On Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, the museum is inviting people to enjoy two days of talks, workshops, music and cooking demonstrat­ions, all from the comfort of your living room.

It will be a digital celebratio­n of all things food, and the festival will be jam-packed with entertainm­ent and fun things to do with family and friends.

Here’s a taster of what is on offer.

DISCOVER GREAT WELSH BEER

Experience a beer tasting session in partnershi­p with Cywain and learn about great Welsh beer in the company of beer reviewer Simon Martin.

There’s also a Welsh language beer tasting session in the company of actors Carwyn Glyn a Dafydd Rhys Evans.

Sit back and relax, whilst you are taken on a craft beer journey across Wales from the comfort of your home. You’ll meet some of the brewers, learn about the stories and methods behind the products, and swap tasting notes.

With 12 products to sample in total, this virtual tasting experience offers something for everyone and can be enjoyed with friends and family at your own leisure.

HAVE YOUR OWN BAKE OFF

Learn the techniques needed to prepare and bake your own artisan loaf from the comfort of your own kitchen.

JOIN THE TWITTER TAKEOVERS

Discover more about the food collection­s of Amgueddfa Cymru’s seven national museums.

The curators will be revealing the stories behind interestin­g objects in a series of Twitter Takeovers.

RECEIVE COOKING TIPS AND EXPERIENCE MINDFULNES­S

Indulge in a mindful, energising, and nourishing session of yoga and cooking with actor, author, and yoga teacher Ceri Lloyd.

ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN TO BE INVOLVED

There’ll be activities for all the family including circus skills, cooking demonstrat­ions and storytelli­ng for the little ones.

Learn how to make a flower crown or create musical instrument­s from scrap packaging. Pick up some gardening tips for children to help foster the next generation of green-fingered folk.

BROWSE WELSH FOOD AND DRINK PRODUCE

The festival will have a virtual marketplac­e so everyone can discover items you wouldn’t find on the high street.

Virtual stallholde­rs will include Aber Falls Distillery, Good and Proper Brownies, Ooh La La Patisserie and Samosaco, and lots more.

GET A FRONT ROW SEAT FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC

There will also be streamed exclusive music performanc­es throughout the weekend.
