Long M4 tailback after lorry fire

-

A LORRY fire shut two lanes on the M4 near Cardiff yesterday morning.

The incident, which was captured on video footage, happened at around 9.30am.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At approximately 9.36am we received reports of a vehicle fire on the M4 westbound, [between] Junction 30 [Cardiff Gate] and Junction 32, Coryton, in Cardiff.

“Crews attended the scene and extinguished the fire. A stop message was received at 10.16am.”

The incident saw very slow traffic on the M4 westbound while the fire was brought under control. Two lanes were initially closed but one reopened just after 10am.

By 10.45am traffic monitors said traffic had returned to normal as the lorry was recovered.
