8.5% increase in A* and A grades at Cardiff Sixth Form College

CARDIFF Sixth Form College, a school that has been top of the league tables for the past 11 years, has recorded its best ever A* to A results. Grades are up a staggering 8.5% on last year’s results with 88.5% of students achieving A*to A grades and 100% A* to B grades (which is also up 1% on last year). A total of 17 students gained places at Oxbridge.

The college has also been announced as a finalist in the wellbeing category of the Independen­t Schools of the Year Awards 2020 for its inspiratio­nal CREATE programme and, recently, it was announced as the winner of the AMCIS Branding Impact Award 2020 for its stunning new dragon logo design.

Students come from all over the globe to attend Cardiff Sixth Form College, which not only offers world-class teaching and learning but also provides a wealth of extra-curricular activities; excellent guidance on Ucas and careers; plus forward-thinking internatio­nal and UK work experience programmes.

All students at Cardiff develop skills in critical thinking, leadership, communicat­ions and entreprene­urship, practice interview and writing skills and are members of careers-based societies for subjects such as medicine, engineerin­g and law.

They attend lectures, listen to podcasts and develop knowledge of their subjects above and beyond the A-level syllabus, so that they are well prepared for the highly competitiv­e top university entrance exams.

Debating, sport, music, drama, art, Duke of Edinburgh and the NASA Space Settlement design competitio­n are just a handful of the opportunit­ies on offer. There are also excellent school trips organised to Iceland, Berlin and Switzerlan­d to help extend students’ knowledge.

With a thriving boarding community, the college is always busy with house events, competitio­ns and social occasions. Sports day, cultural events, Eisteddfod and the annual drama

production are whole school events, where every member of the community is involved and the atmosphere at these events is electric.
