-

THE buzz of pupil activity has returned to the classrooms and corridors at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools.

After delivering a very successful online learning progamme during the summer term, the schools have welcomed all children back for the start of the new academic year.

“While we remained open for the children of key workers last term, we are excited to have reopened all five of our school sites for all pupils,” said principal James Murphy-O’Connor.

“During the summer, we worked through detailed plans on how we could reopen our school sites and we will constantly review and monitor how successfully our measures are being implemented.

“Our overriding priority is to promote and protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our children and staff, while providing the greatest possible breadth of education.”

Students celebrated their examination results during the summer after an extraordinary chapter in their young lives.

Monmouth Schools sixth form students showed maturity and resilience throughout the coronavirus pandemic which disrupted their studies.

This was the first A-level cohort to have been fully integrated in

Monmouth Schools sixth form since co-educational teaching was launched in September 2018.

There were outstanding individual performances: 50% of all grades were A* to A and 75% were A* to B and three students secured places at Oxbridge.

At Monmouth School for Girls, 81.6% of all GCSE grades were A* to A and grade nine to seven and 100% were A* to C and grade nine to four. Eleven girls achieved nine or more A*/grades nine and eight.

80.63% of all GCSE grades at Monmouth School for Boys were A* to A and grade nine to seven and 99.7% were A* to C and grade nine to four. Sixteen boys recorded all grades at A*/grades nine and eight and six achieved a full set of A*/nine grade.

Meanwhile, children and their parents are now warmly invited to visit the family of Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools.

The schools will arrange individual bespoke tours for all prospective children and families, while observing social distancing and other safety guidelines.

The admissions teams will accompany families on tailored tours of the facilities and arrange face-toface or virtual meetings with key staff.

In addition, the schools will be holding virtual open days on Friday,

October 2 and Saturday, October 3 from 9.30am to 12 noon.

The online virtual open days will be a wonderful opportunity for prospective children and parents to discover what it is like to be a pupil and get a glimpse into the many opportunities available at Monmouth.

To arrange a bespoke tour or one-to-one virtual meetings with school heads or senior staff, contact the admissions teams: boys. admissions@habsmonmouth.org or girls.admissions@habsmonmouth.org or telephone 01600 711104 for girls and pre preps, or 01600 710433 for boys.
