Two more Wales aces join Chiefs

-

THE Welsh contingent in the academy of Gallagher Premiership high-fliers Exeter Chiefs continues to grow after two more teenagers signed up.

Last week it was confirmed that age grade stars Dan John, son of former Pontypridd and Wales scrum-half Paul, and Oliver Burrows have penned three and four year deals respectively.

Full-back John has represented Wales under-20s twice already, despite only being 18, whilst hooker Burrows has played for the under-18s.

Both attended Millfield School in Somerset.

Ospreys age-grade product Burrows said: “Whilst at Exeter, I’m hoping to have a good couple of years developing and progressing with Wales under20s, before hopefully becoming a regular in the premiership. Eventually, the dream is to play for Wales.”

The duo join Wales under-18s giant lock Christ Tshiunza at Chiefs after he turned down a substantial offer from the Cardiff Blues earlier this year.

Another former Blues agegrade player in Iwan Jenkins is already part of the Chiefs’ academy.

The quartet supplement the Welsh first team presence at Sandy Park, with Tomas Francis, Alex Cuthbert, Phil Dolman, Sean Lonsdale, Corey Baldwin and Tom Price all on the Rob Baxter’s books.

Bath will welcome spectators back to the Recreation Ground tonight as they target another major step towards the Gallagher Premiership playoffs.

Victory over Gloucester would take Bath second in the table behind runaway leaders Exeter.
