AMAN accused of murdering a father of two in the street told police he had “pulled out my switchblade and stabbed him in the chest,” a jury has been told.

Jordan Davies was stabbed to death in Barry nine days before Christmas last year.

Jordan Brown, 25 of Holton Road, Barry, denies murdering the 23-yearold Jordan Davies and has gone on trial at Cardiff Crown Court.

It is the prosecution case that Brown murdered Mr Davies “by repeatedly and intentionally stabbing him, causing him injuries to his chest, stomach and arm that then caused his death”.

Prosecutor Michael Jones QC Jones told the court the pair, who knew one another, had on December 16 last year been arguing “about some sort of issue with the defendant staring at Jordan Davies’ girlfriend” .

Brown was seen throwing what were thought to be punches at Mr Davies before a witness realised the defendant was actually holding a knife in his hand, the court heard.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4pm and, despite an emergency operation being carried out in the street in a bid to save his life, Mr Davies died an hour later at the scene.

Brown was arrested the same evening at Asda in Barry and told police Mr Davies had accused him of “staring out his baby mother in a café”.

Mr Jones told the jury: “We say the defendant was the aggressor in this incident and he was not acting in selfdefence. He had absolutely no need or justification to stab Jordan Davies once, let alone repeatedly.”

Yesterday the jury heard extracts of multiple police interviews with the defendant.

In the first of those, which lasted just over half an hour and took place on December 17, Brown told officers there was “back and forth shouting” in the street and said Mr Davies stepped towards him.

He continued: “I was angry at that time because I was in the middle of town and it seemed like all he wanted to do was fight.

“I tried to persuade him to go out of town and around the corner to have a scrap. He had his right hand in his pocket and he swung for me.

“I had my knife in my pocket. He missed me and I pulled out my switchblade and stabbed him in the chest.

“I pushed him away from me and told him I didn’t want to do this but he came for me again so I stabbed him another two times.”

The prosecution case has now concluded and the defence case is due to begin today.

The trial, before Judge Rhys Rowlands and expected to take up to four weeks, continues.
