Moore is becoming City’s answer to Kane – Harris

-

NEIL Harris lauded Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore after his two goals helped thrash Huddersfield Town 3-0.

Well-taken goals in each half against the Terriers ensured Moore took his personal tally to seven for the season and looks a better acquisition with each passing game.

Against Huddersfield, he was a complete handful at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening, ragging the Terriers defenders all across the park before popping up with two strikers’ finishes.

And manager Harris waxed lyrical about the forward’s display in another important win for the Bluebirds.

“Again, he has bullied the centrehalves for the 75 minutes he was on the pitch,” Harris said after the match.

“He is looking like a top acquisition by the club.

“He was a handful in the air, he is quick when he runs down the sides, he is taking care of the ball for us and scoring goals at the moment.

“He is making life very difficult for the opponents.

“Huddersfield changed to a three to deal with him and Mark Harris and I thought he was a real handful again.”

The Bluebirds were excellent all over the pitch on Tuesday, starting with a high press which forced the Terriers defenders into making mistakes.

That is how Moore’s second goal came about, when Junior Hoilett nabbed the ball from Naby Sarr inside the penalty area before squaring it to the striker for an easy tap-in.

And that work at the top end of the pitch is crucial to Cardiff, Harris said, believing the attitude and desire must start up top.

The Bluebirds manager compared Moore’s importance to Wales with the work Harry Kane does for Tottenham, believing the key players up top set the standards for the rest of the side.

“If you play with two strikers, then it’s all about them. They set the tone for the team,” Harris added.

“We started with two strikers who can run and have big hearts and are willing to do that.

“Spurs are very good at the moment because of Harry Kane. No disrespect to Jose Mourinho, he is a legend, and there are very good players around him, but Harry Kane sets the tempo.

“Kieffer Moore and Gareth Bale do that for Wales and the players around them are very good.

“He is very important to us.”
