Police keep ‘open mind’ as man dead in flat named
POLICE are keeping an “open mind” after the body of a 36-yearold man was found in a Cardiff flat.
Yesterday, South Wales Police named the man, found on March 17, as Naser Al Barghash.
Officers are continuing to investigate his death and are appealing for information surrounding Mr Al Barghash’s movements in the days before his death.
It is understood that Mr Al Barghash was from Kuwait.
His body was discovered at around 9.30am on Wednesday, March 17, and images from the scene showed a large police presence including a number of forensic officers.
Yesterday, South Wales Police Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Davies said: “We are keeping an open mind concerning Mr Al Barghash’s death.
“His family has been contacted and is being supported by specially trained police officers.
“I am appealing for anyone who may have any information concerning Naser’s movements in the days prior to Wednesday, March 17, to contact us so we can establish exactly what has happened.”
An incident room was set up at Cardiff Central police station following discovery of the body.
Pictures from the scene showed a number of police officers and an area behind one of the properties in Churchill Way cordoned off.
Plain-clothed officers were seen at the neighbouring property, 17-32 Churchill Villas, while forensics were seen going in and out of 33-48 Churchill Villas, where the investigation appeared to have been centred.
Pontypridd Coroner’s Court confirmed that an inquest into Mr Al Barghash’s death is listed to take place on September 5, 2022.
