THE Ospreys have entered into a new commercial tie-up with electronics manufacturer Philtronics, which becomes the rugby region’s new title partner.

The deal, the value of which hasn’t been disclosed, will see Aberdarebased Philtronics appearing on the front of the Ospreys jersey.

Owner and managing director of Philtronics, Simon Pritchard, said: “There is a very real alignment between Philtronics and the Ospreys, with our shared culture, ethics and philosophy.

“Both organisations have a proven track record of building and developing Welsh talent and showcasing it on the global stage

“We both pride ourselves on being innovators in our particular fields and of representing our people, pushing the boundaries to make a difference in our communities.

“To have Philtronics on the front of the Ospreys jersey is a real privilege for myself on a personal level and we share a desire to develop into a wider market.

“This is a unique and bespoke partnership and to be able to explore what new technology can do for rugby is a genuinely exciting prospect for Philtronics.

“The opportunity to make a very real difference and to use cuttingedge technology to enhance the player’s performance or to enhance the supporter’s enjoyment of the game brings a new dimension to this partnership.

“Our relationship with the Ospreys has always been much more than just rugby and we both endeavour to have a very real and significant impact on improving people’s lives in our communities.”

Philtronics first came on board with the Ospreys seven years ago as a hospitality partner and sponsor before becoming a premium partner and kit partner for the past three years.

Chief executive of the Ospreys, Nick Garcia, said: “We are delighted to agree an extended and elevated partnership with Philtronics as they become title partner of the Ospreys. The synergy between two Welsh brands with a global ambition and a desire to innovate has endless possibilities.

“Philtronics has a track record of breaking new ground in technology and the Ospreys have a reputation for innovation in rugby. As well as offering a unique marketing platform for Philtronics, this partnership will embody our shared ambition for innovation.

“The Ospreys and Philtronics will work together to explore new sports technology solutions, with the potential to drive competitive advantage on the pitch and enhanced supporter experience off it.”

Earlier this week the Liberty Stadium-based region entered into a five-year deal that sees the sporting brand Umbro becoming its official technical kit partner.

Sam Lucas, director of sports marketing for Umbro, said: “This is incredibly exciting for Umbro. Ospreys are Wales’ most successful region and we are proud to partner with them as they embark on a new strategic direction. We will be taking great pride in developing a jersey that will represent the club and its supporters both in the heartlands of Welsh rugby and globally.

“As we continue to cement our reintegration back into rugby, we look forward to working with Ospreys across our sports brands and partnerships to ensure we continue to develop pioneering performance-wear that is fit for purpose.”
