Thanks for your votes, I will serve you well
TO be re-elected as the Member of the Senedd for Islwyn is the greatest honour of my life.
Our campaign message of ‘Putting Islwyn First’ resonated with the people of Islwyn.
As a girl born in the Pantside in Newbridge and who raised my family in Risca, it was gratifying to receive such support.
That I increased my majority is down to the success of the radical and ambitious Welsh Labour Government and the dedicated campaigning of Islwyn Labour volunteers.
Islwyn and Wales remains socialist red.
Welsh Labour equalled its best-ever Senedd Cymru/Welsh Parliament results with 30 members of the Senedd elected.
It was fantastic that the Welsh Labour Health Minister, Vaughan Gething, and the Welsh Labour First Minister, Mark Drakeford, both visited Islwyn during the campaign.
The Welsh Labour Government has kept Wales safe during the pandemic, and now with the vaccination programme an outstanding success, we need to build back fairer.
On June 21 the Cwmcarn Forest Drive will officially reopen. It is one of my proudest political achievements. Many said it would never be possible.
There are still campaigns to fight. I continue to oppose, totally, the proposed Hazrem facility at Nine Mile Point and will continue to speak out against it in the Senedd chamber.
I will represent Islwyn with a socialist voice but I will represent all the people of Islwyn whether they voted for me or not.
Islwyn Labour did not take a single vote for granted.
We campaigned harder, walked further, delivered more leaflets, knocked more doors and had more conversations with people than any other campaign.
I look forward to repaying the trust put in me by the communities of Islwyn.
They put Islwyn First by voting for me, I will put them first during the next five years of my public service. Rhianon Passmore MS
