It’s time for some to join the real world

-

A CORRESPONDENT states that he has done some research and that a vaccine manufacturer says his product cannot prevent but just provides protection against a “serious” dose of Covid-19.

I’m sure medical authorities would point to pilot studies, plus the drop in the infection rate since vaccination began, to show that it does provide protection and stop people getting it and therefore spreading it. Even if there is some truth in this individual’s claim, surely it is better to be safe than sorry and have the jabs so know this will provide protection.

This is a deadly disease. Has this person watched the TV news over these months and seen the huge burden on the NHS caused by the pandemic and the many thousands of deaths? People have lost their families, their loved ones. Doesn’t he think that these people would be the first to take the opportunity to be vaccinated?

I assume some people have taken on board fake news from social media about vaccines and don’t read the papers or watch the television news broadcasts. Some may just be afraid of a needle in the arm. I can assure them that it doesn’t hurt. Side effects too are rare and quite mild also. So please, for your safety and the safety of others around you, get vaccinated.

Of course another big factor in the lowering of the infection rate and hence the death rate must be the lockdown(s). On this topic another correspondent has picked up the conspiracy theory about governments using the pandemic to control people. Has he noticed who is running this country? A right-wing Tory Government is not about to close down businesses, including those in the hospitality sector, then use taxpayers’ money, plus borrow billions of pounds on top, to prop these businesses up and pay their staff for staying home.

No, they see this as their only course of action in the dire circumstances we find ourselves in. Why, the Tories are finally and wholeheartedly, it would seem, backing the NHS and pledging to support it properly in future.

So wake up from your paranoid dreams and join the sensible, commonsense real world the rest of us inhabit.
