Page picks his men as Wales gear up for Euros
WALES boss Robert Page has named a 28-man squad for their Euro 2020 camp in Portugal this week.
Fifteen players met up at Cardiff’s Vale Resort last week for a training camp and those members have now been joined by another 13 as preparations ramp up for this summer’s tournament.
With the domestic season over for most players the trip is seen as a big opportunity to fine-tune matters ahead of matches against Turkey, Switzerland and Italy.
Daniel James is unavailable due to Manchester United’s involvement in the Europa League final, while Swansea City’s Connor Roberts and Ben Cabango will also miss out as they are gearing up for their Championship play-off final match against Brentford on Saturday.
Newport County’s Josh Sheehan and Tom King are also unavailable as the Exiles progressed to the League Two play-off final.
Encouragingly, Stoke City’s Joe Allen and Tottenham’s Ben Davies have been included after recovering from their respective knocks, with Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey also in the party.
There is still no place for Cardiff City’s Will Vaulks, who continues to be overlooked despite good form for
the Bluebirds this season.
Page’s men face warm-up matches against France (June 2, Paris) and Albania (June 5, Cardiff ) before he names his final travelling party for the tournament.
The camp, in the Algarve region, will take place from today until Saturday.
Page will be announcing his squad on Sunday, May 30. Wales squad: Wayne Hennessey, Danny Ward, Adam Davies, James Lawrence, Ben Davies, Joe Rodon, Chris Mepham, Chris Gunter, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Neco Williams, Joe Allen, Joe Morrell, Ethan Ampadu, Matthew Smith, Jonathan Williams, Kieffer Moore, Aaron Ramsey, Harry Wilson, Gareth Bale, David Brooks, Tyler Roberts, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo, Dylan Levitt, Tom Lockyer, Rubin Colwill, Mark Harris, George Thomas.
