Guehi sends his farewell message to Swans fans as loan ends

CHELSEA loanee Marc Guehi has bid an emotional farewell to Swansea City. Guehi’s second loan spell at the Liberty Stadium ended with defeat at the hands of Brentford in Saturday’s playoff final, and the chances of him extending his stay in South Wales now appear slim.

The 20-year old has emerged as a huge fans’ favourite with the Jack Army after a series of colossal performances at the heart of Steve Cooper’s defence during a successful two-year loan stint.

Guehi made 45 appearances for the Swans this term, earning plenty of plaudits along the way, and has been strongly tipped for Premier League stardom.

Speaking after the Swans’ play-off defeat, the centre-back admitted that he hadn’t yet decided his next move, but has seemingly ruled out a potential third year at the club.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here,” he told the club’s official website. “The fans and everyone at the club have really embraced me and taken me in as if I was family.

“It’s been an amazing time I’ve spent here; Swansea City will forever be in my heart. I enjoyed every minute on the pitch, especially with the fans.

“I didn’t get to play in front of them too much, but the times that I did I really enjoyed.

“I don’t know what my future holds but I’ll definitely keep my eyes on how Swansea are doing at all times and support them from afar.

“The fans have been great; everyone’s really taken me under their wing and it’s been amazing.”

Guehi is just one of several Swansea players set to move on this summer.

Fellow loanees Freddie Woodman and Conor Hourihane are due to return to their parent clubs, while talismanic forward Andre Ayew is expected to actively look for a fresh challenge after the expiration of his contract this summer.
