Gabby Logan tells of IVF battle and her fertility fears

-

GABBY Logan has revealed the agony of her IVF battle and her fears she would never be able to have children.

The new Scrum V host, 48, was speaking on the fertility podcast Making Babies about the problems she had in starting a family with her former rugby star husband, Kenny Logan.

Following their struggles they went down the IVF route.

Gabby, in the podcast with ITV Wales presenter Andrea Byrne, said: “It was probably three years from trying naturally to having IVF.

“The whole process of the IVF was stressful, we treated it like a sports schedule. I was trying to see it as a treatment, almost.”

She added: “Then on how many days after I was supposed to be getting a blood test, I bled that day and I decided that was it and I wasn’t having a baby. Kenny was in Glasgow and wasn’t able to come with me. The doctor said ‘Go and get your blood test done anyway’. I woke up and there was blood but there was enough for me to decide that was it.

“But we found out that I was pregnant and I didn’t have a miscarriage.”

Gabby was full of praise for Kenny for being so supportive throughout the baby journey.

She said initially they were told by medics that neither of them had any problems and that the ex-rugby star had all the checks before he proposed.

Gabby said: “He went for a full medical about his sperm. Because of rugby he had been kicked a lot down there and would occasionally have some blood, so he was a bit paranoid that there was something wrong with him.

“He didn’t tell me this, that he had this done. He didn’t want to propose to me and say ‘I’m infertile’. So he did that a few months before.”

Gabby was 29 and was reading a book about fertility and she realised she had been through a few m milestones leading her to consider her options. op

They are proud parents of 15-yearold twins tw Reuban and Lois.

“W When there were two heartbeats bea – I started to relax as you would wo in any pregnancy,” she said. sa

She said she never tried to have children immediately after the chaos of having twins.

Gabby said: “We felt really lucky. lu

“We had a boy and a girl and that tha whole feeling of completeness.” ness
