How they rated

BEN HAMER

The goalkeeper didn’t face a single shot in the first half and looked very comfortable when playing out from the back. Made three fine saves to deny Tom Lawrence shortly after the restart. Another clean sheet.

BEN CABANGO

Showed some really confident moments of play at the back which in turn helped Swansea progress up the pitch. Found things a little tougher after the restart but did well.

RYAN MANNING

Wasn’t troubled in the first half and was good in possession. Got into some real battles in the second half and was solid enough.

JOEL LATIBEAUDIERE

Was afforded the time and space to get very high up the pitch. Had a couple of efforts blocked and couldn’t find the final ball that his efforts warranted. Subbed.

FLYNN DOWNES

Kept up his reputation of being a passing machine in a game that was largely ideal for his remit. Gave Swansea’s defence so much protection.

MATT GRIMES

The captain was constantly on the ball in the middle of the park. Fired wide in the first half and couldn’t find that killer pass, but played a big part in his side’s control.

JAKE BIDWELL

Started well and caused a number of problems from the left flank. Had a shot saved in the opening 45 but was quieter in the second half. Put in a great cross for Korey Smith in the 75th minute.

KOREY SMITH

Making his first league start since the opening day of the campaign, Smith got into plenty of dangerous areas but the final ball was sometimes lacking. Some promising link-up play from the 30-year-old, though. Subbed.

JAMIE PATERSON

Fine pass to Joel Piroe in the first half, and the summer signing was a real thorn in the side of the Rams for long spells in the first half. Made a vital challenge to thwart Jason Knight in his own box in the second half, although his attacking influence had waned slightly.

JOEL PIROE

His efforts in the press were impressive, although the Dutchman spurned a fine opportunity to score in the first half after being played through by Paterson. Didn’t get a look in after the second half and was duly replaced.

STAR MAN KYLE NAUGHTON

Mopped up everything nicely and was once again the man who got Swansea going from the back. Good in the air and made some clearances too in what was a clear example of exactly why Russell Martin wants the 32-year-old at the base of the back three.
