JD CYMRU SOUTH/NORTH

-

LLANTWIT Major made Taffs Well pay for knocking them out of the JD Welsh Cup the previous weekend as they maintained their unbeaten record to hold on to top spot in JD Cymru South with a 4-2 home win.

Tom Walters conjured up a hat-trick to spearhead a league double over the visitors and Callum Kinsella scored the other goal as Llantwit went a point clear of Pontypridd Town at the top.

First-half goals from Sam Johnson and Gavin Beddard put Pontypridd on the road to a 2-1 victory at Cwmbran Celtic to keep them in second place.

Tyler Brock and Joe Hunt fired Briton Ferry Llansawel into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes in their home game against Risca United. The visitors replied with a Sean Feeley penalty to make it 2-1 at the break.

Mark Jones made it 3-1 seven minutes into the second half and went on to miss a penalty in the closing moments. The result kept Briton Ferry very much in the mix at the top of the table as they moved on to 25 points with their eighth win of the campaign.

Goytre United are also on 25 points thanks to a 79th-minute goal from Sean Cronin that rescued a point for them in a tough home clash with improving Carmarthen Town. The visitors hit the front when Ben Steele fired in a 17th-minute goal and managed to frustrate the home side until deep into the second half.

In JD Cymru North, Prestatyn Town beat Llangefni Town 6-1 on the road with Ryan Kehoe grabbing two of the goals. Gresford Athletic played out a goalless draw with Holywell Town.

North leaders Airbus UK Broughton were 3-1 victors at Buckley Town with Oliver Lanceley, Adam Davies and Gareth Edwards getting the goals.

Second-placed Guilsfield had a Jamie Hyne goal in the first half at Llanidloes Town to thank for their 1-0 win.

Colwyn Bay took the lead at Llanelian Road through a James Kirby goal, but it was the visitors who had the last laugh. Gareth Evans levelled things up in the second half before Marc Williams conjured up a 71st-minute winner to make it seven wins in a row.
