LIVERPOOL and Manchester City had to settle for a point each at Anfield after a pulsating 2-2 draw.

City dominated the first half but could not find the finishing touch and they were made to pay when Sadio Mane put Liverpool into the lead just before the hour mark.

Phil Foden equalised 10 minutes later before Mohamed Salah scored a brilliant individual goal to put the hosts back in front. But Kevin de Bruyne’s deflected strike brought the scores level again.

The result leaves Liverpool a point behind Chelsea at the top of the table, with City a further point behind in third.

Chelsea claimed a 3-1 win over Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

The home side went ahead thanks to Trevoh Chalobah. Southampton hit back through James Ward-Prowse’s penalty on the hour mark. But then Ward-Prowse was sent off and the visitors could not hold on.

Timo Werner tapped in his side’s second and Ben Chilwell made the points safe.

Andros Townsend secured Everton a deserved point at Manchester United.

Anthony Martial’s first United goal in eight months put the hosts on course for victory, only for Townsend to secure Rafael Benitez’s Everton a 1-1 draw.

Diego Llorente’s first-half strike secured Leeds a 1-0 win against Watford.

Tottenham got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s strike and an own goal by Matt Targett got the job done.

Villa were outplayed but found themselves level with 22 minutes remaining as Ollie Watkins scored, only for the hosts to regain the lead three minutes later.

Jeffrey Schlupp came off the bench to earn Crystal Palace a 2-2 against former club Leicester City at Selhurst Park.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy capitalised on defensive errors to put the Foxes two goals up at the interval.

But Palace substitute Michael Olise scored his first goal for the club before Schlupp struck.

Hwang Hee-chan’s brace inspired Wolves to a 2-1 win over Newcastle.

The striker scored Wolves’ first home goals in the Premier League this season.

Jeff Hendrick’s first-half leveller briefly threatened to upset the hosts’ momentum.

Yoane Wissa thumped home a stoppage-time winner as Brentford floored West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium.

Jarrod Bowen thought he had scrambled the Hammers a draw 10 minutes from time, but Wissa blasted into the net.

Bowen’s low finish cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo’s opener for the Bees.

Burnley and Norwich fought out a goalless draw, which at least provided a first point of the season for the Canaries.

Brighton and Arsenal also battled to a 0-0 draw.
