Mullin double sees Wrexham into Trophy final
PAUL Mullin scored two stoppage-time goals as Wrexham overcame Stockport County to reach the FA Trophy final.
The semi-final between the National League’s top two had been a tight affair, which came to life in the second half.
With Wrexham’s Hollywood coowner Ryan Reynolds in attendance, Mullin secured victory and a trip to Wembley with two goals in added time.
The 2013 FA Trophy winners will face Bromley in the final on May 22.
Stockport, who have an 11-point lead over Wrexham in the National League, saw a 21game unbeaten run in all competitions come to an end.
In a tight first half with very little to separate the two teams, exWrexham striker Scott Quigley scuffed a shot wide of the post, while at the other end Mullin’s low shot forced Ben Hinchcliffe into a save.
Stockport’s Antoni Sarcevic fired over the crossbar from close range with a minute of the first half remaining before Quigley’s stoppage-time effort was diverted wide by Christian Dibble.

ing a strong run and the striker later capitalised on a poor back pass only to drag his shot wide of the post with just the keeper to beat.
A more open second half saw home keeper Dibble deny County substitute Connor Jennings, while Hinchcliffe made a fine save to turn away Jordan Davies’ shot.
Hinchcliffe made an equally impressive save to stop Reece Hall-Johnson’s long-range effort in the 90th minute.
With the game in added time, Wrexham broke free and Mullin chipped Hinchcliffe to give the hosts a dramatic lead.
Mullin added a second, another chip over the keeper, before following up to tap home.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said: “There was a bit of edginess in the first half and some uncharacteristic errors from both sides, but there was a lot at stake.
“But I thought we grew into the game and a couple of really good chances to take the lead and didn’t take them.
“But with Mulls on the pitch you always believe that you’re going to get a goal.”
