£65k drug dealer in prison after 30 months on the run

-

A MAN who had almost £65,000 worth of drugs in his car was finally caught after fleeing the scene of a police search and going on the run for more than two and a half years.

Police officers from South Wales Police, including armed officers, attended an address in Swansea on August 6, 2019, after receiving information that the property was being used for the purposes of county lines drug trafficking.

Pierre Junior Williams, 29, and of no fixed address, returned to the house in his car while officers were in attendance. He fled the scene, leading to a police search which was ultimately unsuccessful.

However, his vehicle was searched and inside

police found 618 grams of heroin and 215 grams of cannabis. According to prosecutor Danielle Lodwig, who outlined the facts of the case when Williams was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court yesterday, two packets of heroin were seized – one with a street value of £49,600 and the other with a street value of £12,200. The cannabis found in the car had a street value of £2,680.

Williams, who was born in Gambia and has lived in the UK for 20 years, was finally caught in March in the Wandsworth area of London – two years and seven months after running from police. He pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply when he appeared at a previous hearing at Swansea Magistrates’ Court.

In mitigation, defence barrister Lloyd Jenkins said his client was remorseful and aware he had “let his family down”.

Judge PH Thomas QC sentenced Williams to four years and four months in prison. Half of that will be spent in prison, with the other half spent on licence.
