Dragons sign lock Nott from the Irish

-

THE Dragons have announced another signing from the English Premiership as they continue their pursuit of Welsh-qualified players.

London Irish lock George Nott is the latest to have signed a longterm deal from the 2022/23 season, following the likes of Exeter star Sean Lonsdale and Bath centre Max Clark.

Nott was born in Bodelwyddan and is one of a number of players Wales have been monitoring for some time after the drawing up of a so-called “exiles hit-list”.

The 26-year-old joins Rhodri Jones, Bradley Roberts, Lonsdale, JJ Hanrahan and Clark in bolstering the Dragons ranks.

Dean Ryan, Director of Dragons Rugby, said: “We’re pleased to sign George and bring another Welsh qualified player back home. George has made a positive contribution at Sale Sharks and London Irish and is a great fit for the squad we are developing.

“His return to Wales ensures he’s in the eye of the national selectors and he is determined to make a big impression with the Dragons.”

The former England Under-20 international giant is 6ft 6in and weighs over 18 stone. He will add both size and physicality to the pack at Rodney Parade and he is looking forward to the new challenge.

“I’m really excited to come back to Wales and join up with the Dragons,” said Nott.

“The Dragons are building a great squad and I’m proud to be a part of it. It’s a new challenge for me and I’m eager to get stuck in and contribute. That being said, I’ve loved my time at London Irish and I’m fully committed to helping the team win some silverware before my departure.”
