HOLYWELL Town scored three second-half goals in their 3-1 win at Penrhyncoch in JD Cymru North – a victory that earned them their highest finish this century.

Fourth place behind Airbus UK Broughton, Llandudno and Guilsfield was no mean feat and included wins over the teams who finished ahead of them. They won 10 of their 13 games in 2022.

Their task at Cae Baker was made all the easier thanks to two red cards for the home side. Goalkeeper Leigh Jenkins received two yellow cards in the space of four minutes in the first half and Josh Shaw picked up a straight red in the 58th minute.

Penrhyncoch took the lead with a first-half goal from Jon Foligno, but Dylan Allshorn and Dan Sullivan put Holywell in front before Sullivan struck again in the 76th minute.

Guilsfiled and Airbus UK played out a goalless draw, while Llandudno beat Llangefni Town 6-1. Marc Williams grabbed two of the goals.

Jay Gibbs struck twice for Holyhead Hotspur in their 4-0 home win over Prestatyn Town as they finished seventh, one place ahead of Buckley Town, who were 3-0 winners at Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant.

Mold Alexandra lifted the FAW Trophy as a goal from Danny Warren gave them a 1-0 win over Baglan Dragons.

Mike Cunningham’s men came up against a Dragons side who had only tasted defeat once in 25 matches. But an inch-perfect ball across the box from Matt Lewis found Warren on the penalty spot and he hit the target.

Alex will now hope to go on and complete a treble. They are level on points with Denbigh at the top of Ardal North West and meet Caersws in the Ardal Northern League Cup final on May 7.
