Kaba will relish the challenge at Cardiff

DEADLINE day signing Sory Kaba insists he’s relishing the challenge of firing Cardiff City to Championship safety.

The 27-year-old joined the Bluebirds in the final hours of the January window, signing from Danish side Midtjylland on loan until the end of the season.

Despite initial doubts over his involvement, the striker made his Cardiff debut off the bench during the defeat to Hull City on Saturday, and even came close to opening his account, seeing a late effort denied by goalkeeper Matt Ingram.

Reflecting on a whirlwind few days before the clash with the Tigers, Kaba told the club’s official website: “I think it was one of the craziest weeks I’ve had since I’ve played football.

“For me, it’s a big challenge to come here and I’m very welcome - I’ve seen all of the messages on social media.

“I hope I will bring the energy the fans want.

“I just want to bring the things I had since I’ve come here and of course, for a striker, to score goals, but the most important thing for me is to fit in the group. I’ve had just one training session and I think it’s an excellent group.

“I’m here to help the group and if it’s me scoring a goal it’s perfect, but also if others score a goal, it’s not a problem.

“The most important thing is that we are going the same way and helping the team to win.”

Saturday was Kaba’s first competitive outing since November, and there were initially some questions over whether he’d be in the right condition to hit the ground running.

However, the striker insists he’s ready to get going in the capitlal.

“I’m physically good. I’ve been training for a month with Midtjylland, so in general, I’ve been training.

“I’ve talked to the manager and it’s for him to decide if he likes me, but I’m always ready.”

Those comments will come as some comfort to Cardiff fans, who’ve watched their side struggle for goals all season, and will be hoping the Guinean can provide some much needed bite in the final third.
