Gatland tears up team, opting for Webb and dropping Rees-Zammit

-

NOW I know they’ve lost the plot, dropping Rees-Zammit. He is an outstanding player.

I DON’T think it’s a case of “dropping” players, more trying to find things that work. Come the World Cup, no one knows who’s actually going to be fit. So there’s no point finalising a side, even winning combinations have limited value at this stage. LRZ hasn’t been great at the moment and, as Warburton said, he is far from being the best defensively. Dyer has his flaws too but has far less experience than LRZ.

I THINK we’re in big trouble. It’s a terrible side on paper and a lot of the backs were absolutely hopeless and clueless in our last game. Rhys Webb is a good pick, although looking at the backs he may as well have kept Tomos Williams as the backs were a lot to blame last game.

Derek Williams reach parts of England, i.e. the Lake District or the Pennines. They must think there will be little or no opposition; they must think the apathetic Welsh won’t put up much resistance, and usually they are right.

Water is a natural resource of Wales and every drop that falls on Wales belongs to the Welsh people. They may say that most of the reservoirs were built by the English and so they have a vested interest – that’s like saying India’s railways belong to the British.

There should be a pipeline infrastructure from Lake Vyrnwy but not to supply south-east England, rather parts of Wales that are suffering from drought as these events are only going to become more common. Surplus water could be used to supply whoever needed it but at a price, and the money used for Wales, one of the poorest countries in Western Europe.
