Is late footballer Jack Leslie really a hero?

-

WELL done to Mr Banks for speaking out (Letters, July 4) regarding the ridiculous suggestion that footballer Jack Leslie should be regarded as a hero and have a statue erected in his memory.

A hero could be defined as someone “who is a real person or a main fictional character who, in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, courage or strength.”

A hero is someone who risks, or even gives their life during the process of trying to save the life of another or others, such as firefighters, police, soldiers and RNLI crew, to name but a few.
