So much beauty and nature to see Close to Home

-

An amazing photo of a ‘brave little blue tit trying to gain a place at the bird feeder’ is the winner of the ‘Close to Home’ theme of Westcountry Photographer of the Year competition.

The plucky blue tit in the photo, taken by Marion Towell from Beaworthy, represents perhaps how many of us have felt at times over the past year during the pandemic.

“I am very lucky, especially at this time, to live in the lovely hamlet of Beaworthy,” said Marion.

“It gives me ample opportunity to practice my hobby which of course is photography and I really enjoy contributing to the Western Morning News.

“I have been doing this now for the past three years and most of my photography is either taken in my garden, or the views from my garden. Both my husband, who also has an interest in photography, and I are looking forward to being able to go out again in the beautiful countryside we have around us.”

New theme

The next theme in our Photographer of the Year competition is ‘Hope Springs Eternal’.

Please send your photos to wmnpiccomp@westernmorningnews.co.uk and put ‘Hope springs eternal’ in the subject line and provide a brief caption.

The closing dates for entries is June 30th, 2021.
