Two-day auction of art and collectabl­es

RENDELLS at Stonepark is holding a two-day auction of antiques and selected items including furniture, jewellery, silver & plate, clocks, china & glassware, collectabl­es, metalware, pictures & paintings, books, postcards, stamps & ephemera on Thursday, April 29 and Friday, April 30, at 10am daily.

The sale includes a large and important private collection of Westcountr­y and other local studio and art pottery including Bernard, Janet and David Leach, Waistel Cooper, Alan Wallwork, John Maltby, Elton Ware, Michael Cardew and North Devon examples amongst many others.

There’s a good selection of antique, retro and later furniture including chests of drawers, dressers, cabinets, bookcases, desks, tables and chairs, wardrobes and mirrors.

In metalwork are a selection of fire furniture, collectabl­e copper and brassware, figures and other items. An antique brass and iron footman with pierced decoration and flanking drop handles has an estimate of £40-£60.

In the silver section is a 30cm diameter silver salver with decorative cast rim and engraving, set on claw and ball feet, estimate £220-250. The jewellery section includes various wristwatch­es and a flower head pattern ring, set with nine brilliant cut diamonds, estimate £1,400-£1,600.
