Two-day sale has many attractions
THE ceramic market has shrunk considerably over the last few years, but the right things still have a keen following like the Wedgwood Fairlyland Lustre ‘Geisha’ Bowl designed by Daisy Makeig Jones, which is expected to make £1000-1500.
In addition to this some fine Royal Worcester is on show with a cased set of six Royal Worcester fruit decorated cups and saucers from 1923 expected to make £800-1200. Also on offer is a Harry Davis vase and cover decorated with sheep in a highland scene measuring 25cm and from 1911. It should see interest of £10001600 with items having come from two Devon house clearances.
With period jewellery so strong the Georgian gold multi-stone regards ring is set to exceed its £800-1000 estimate and a pair of Georgian green paste pendant earrings, 40mm drop will probably do the same to their £400-500 estimate. There are also some stunning intaglio fobs decorated with classical mythological figures from another deceased estate.
The militaria section is showing great pre-sale interest with Sergeant Haslam’s WWII scrap book including details of service. In amongst the edged weapons is an 1821 Pattern Royal Artillery Officer’s Sword expected to make £300-400.
For all those audiofiles out there Garrard 401 turntable with rare JA Mitchell transcriptor arm should be enticing at £600-800, and there are items by Acoustic Research and Bang & Olufsen.
There are also a large number of one-off collectables including a Daguerreotype colour tinted stereogram slide estimated at just £50-80.
