Bringing life to town and landscapes

-

IT’S now six years since Adrian Sykes, with his unique style, impinged on our consciousness. As a gallery Marine House at Beer is constantly search for something different, something exciting, something fresh.

One doesn’t have to ponder long when an artist of really special talent introduces himself to you – Adrian Sykes hits that spot.

These are not just straightforward landscapes or townscapes, once they have been breathed on by Adrian’s fertile imagination.

People are heading home to isolated houses, romantic trysts take place, often via impossibly long ladders; current trends such as wild swimming make their appearance, and busy happy scenes, in a park in a mill town, almost Lowry-esque in style, get the Sykes treatment.

These are most accessible oil paintings, giving the viewer constant small and agreeable surprises as their eye picks out unexpected details.

Since Marine House at Beer first exhibited Adrian’s paintings, his success has grown and grown. This is the fourth solo show the gallery has staged of his work, as well as exhibiting with great success at art fairs the gallery attends in London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

This show is perhaps the most widely ranging in content. Oh, to have creative and artistic talent in such abundance!

Adrian Sykes Solo Show at Marine House at Beer, “In Tune with Life”, runs Saturday, September 25 to October 8. Contact the gallery for a free catalogue, or to purchase a painting.
